SunMa (András Koroknay) is a nomadic sound artist and bassist, notable for making meditative sonic collages pulsing with earthy basslines. His musicality is deeply rooted in early Dub pioneered by legends like King Tubby and Lee “Scratch” Perry. It serves as the basis for forward-thinking approaches resulting in a sound that is vital and distinctive: Dub methodology with influences ranging from psychedelic jazz and electronics to Indian classical, infused with the infinite possibilities of modular synthesis and audio processing.

Built around evolving loops sampled from his own instrumental and field recordings “Joining” was the first piece to be born out of his solo project, followed by an EP titled “Flux” - a series of tracks inspired by a particular seashore in Goa and the very transient nature of phenomena. His second EP “Vana” is an homage to his musical roots in Dub and features some of his longtime friends and fellow musicians like flutist Fanni Zahár and emerging Berlin-based producer Àbáse. Most recently a brief 7-track concept album named “RAM” was released further broadening the spectrum with flavours of broken beat and nu-jazz while maintaining his sonic handmarks.

Originating from Transylvania, András is currently residing between Berlin and Budapest. Besides producing SunMa his activities spread from playing bass for reggae powerhouse Manaky and Àbáse's six-piece to scoring films and co-running a recording studio.
