Benny Bettane and Jur the Fresh play original compositions for guitar and handpan. Inspired by medicine music, trip hop and flamenco grooves, Benny and Jur create their music from jamming, simply for the love of playing together. Urafiki is the Swahili word for friendship, which the music is a representation of.
After meeting online during the lockdown, these two musicians first got together in early 2021 in Antwerp. Within minutes of their first jam session they wrote the basis for their first song. After this inspiring session, the composition process started flowing. They have since performed their songs at Landjuweel Festival and PanTribe Festival.
Benny Bettane, from Australia and currently based in Antwerp, is an internationally renowned Handpan player, Multi-instrumentalist, Composer and Handpan teacher. Jur the Fresh is a guitarist, composer, teacher based in Amsterdam, effortlessly moving through genres.
