The promise of the textile and communal dyeing workshop is that what first appears as a tangled, messy mass can be teased into fibers, spun into thread, and eventually arranged into woven fabric — whether it is flax, hemp, wool… or even the soul. ☺️
Curious visitors can try hand spinning using a spindle or spinning wheel, and weaving on a loom that can be brought to the festival.
For more experienced participants there is an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences, while beginners can get acquainted with ancient yet still widely used techniques, and even experiment with less common fiber materials.
Besides the practice itself, participants can also create something tangible to take home: with one or two hours of active participation, they can weave a small bag-sized textile piece (using pre-prepared yarn).
